Park Zoo Hotel
Project location:Hangzhou
Completion time:2018.12
Project area:18000㎡
Chief designer:Li Xiang
Project directors:Fan Chen, Zhang Wenji
Customized furniture:XIANG

This is no doubt a hotel based on the animal theme. However, we didn't simply create a series of adorable and graceful animal-shaped installations in order to attract great attention in the intensely competitive market.
Infusing the space with the deep love for animals, we transformed the hotel into an art exhibition, where customers are able to observe and feel the real situation facing the endangered animals in the present moment.
Instead of paying great emphasis on shaping styles, we have integrated structure, streamline, colors and graphics in order to create the elegant temperament of the space.
The visual effects of the background compose of minimalist patterns which were abstracted from the concept of nature world, creating a solemn atmosphere where it is more likely to arouse the customer's feeling of compassion towards endangered animals.
The art installations have both the ornamental and functional value, which can also serve as leisure chairs. The carvings on them appears detailed and exquisite in contrast to the minimalist background. The combination of figurative art and abstract art adds a sense of depth and complexity to the space.
Incorporating the concept of public interest in a commercial space is a sophisticated experiment which requires the designer to be both well-considered and experienced with technical skills. We believe that the story lines embodied in the installations have offered a number of perspectives for people to grasp a clear understanding of our living environment.
