Entrusted by the parent-child cultural and entertainment brand YWORLDBAO, X+Living renovated an old factory into a large-scale artistic and aesthetic children’s playground. The interior floor height of the factory building and the birth of the new brand aroused the designer's imagination, and an infinite blue ocean emerged as the conceptual idea.。
Ocean, in the process of human civilization and history, became the birth bed of life, beauty, civilization, etc., and it inspired the designer with the theme of the space and its spirit. Space is no longer a silent existence. The sound of the waves and the sounds of the creatures under the waves, interweave into a melodious song of the ocean, leading an exploration into the fusion of the space and its visitors.
A group of arched doors and windows of different sizes are opened at the bottom of the square building, and the curve adds a soft look. Inside the doors and windows, the scenery of different areas unfolds like a picture scroll, attracting the attention of customers and extending the impression and meaning of the interior space. The grand scale of the entrance gives people an unforgettable first impression, and the ultimate dreamy space wrapped inside the pure white minimalist building shell comes into view.
Stepping into the reception area for changing shoes, visitors can hear the tidal sound of the ocean. The designer integrated function with aesthetics design, artistically refined the shape of waves and terraformed them into shoe cabinets and service desks. Waves in the shape of a rainbow are churning indoors, stacking a magnificent sea surface. The one-way circulation centered on the multi-functional L-shaped reception desk connects the reception area and the retail area and activates the service attribute of the service desk to both areas.
Details in the dark blue decoration on the ceiling, the classical embossments on the retail shelves, and the wall decoration lines shaped like picture frames present an elegant texture of imperial court. Elaborating, supplementing, interlacing, and infiltrating, the avant-garde and the classical are fused in the space, blending into a romantic and elegant castle for children.
The shape of coral is abstracted, and then reconstructed into a series of colourful coral houses, connected with each other, clustered into a coral reef paradise. The night sky starlight on the ceiling sprinkles quietly, and the coral presents the colourfulness of the sunset. Inside the simulate city area with ten meters height ceiling, the designer created a mysterious party belonging to the deep ocean. Children are able to shuttle through the simulate city with rich three-dimensional experience along the carefully planned circulation, like small fishes swimming inside the coral reef, exploring the novel scenery in front of them, overwhelmed by the greatness of the ocean as the cradle of life.
The ocean breeds civilization, which is compatible with the functional areas with education attribute inside the playground. The platform and columns at the children’s reading area are inspired by corals and aquatic plants, and the geometric natural landscape creates an artistic structural space. The strong and calm brushstrokes are applied to the whale houses stacked and interspersed in the ball pool area, creating a unique crayon painting filled with childish beauty. The whole area is covered with soft material to ensure safety of children. There are also ample rest seats for parents to have some rest or take a nap.
Under the ten-meter height space, the designe`r created an elegant and enthusiastic image of an ocean dance party inside the private dining space with a three-dimensional hierarchical spatial structure, and covered it with cream-like delicate and elegant colours. Colourful fishtails stood still at a moment of swaying, and wrapped into half-fan shaped blocks that separate dinning tables. Wavy raffle patterns are adorned on the stairs, platforms and the edge of the bar. The stairs and platforms connect the whole space, and the a play area is cleverly placed inside it. The interactive play and companion space makes the dining journey of each family more delightful and interesting. The washbasin in the bathroom are custom designed with sea anemone shaped mirrors and countertops of different levels, which satisfies the needs of different groups of people. The church-style skirt lines sets off a grand sense of ceremony.
