This project is the design of the exhibition hall of “modern and contemporary art collection” in Deji Art Museum, hosting the permanent themed exhibition "Nothing Still About Still Lifes: Three Centuries of Floral Compositions". The designers used abstract lines to depict a free and abundant landscape, reconstructing the exterior walls of the exhibition hall into a three-dimensional "micro-architecture", making it part of the public art area. Its overall form also becomes an exploratory artificial landscape.
Faced with the grand artistic theme, the designers chose to simplify, lightly sketching out natural imagery and humanistic symbols. Undefinable shapes slowly come to life with countless variations. The modern minimalist design style contains implicit rhythm and flavor, constructing a hazy, romantic, tranquil aesthetic field.
The wooden floor spreads across the ground like a prairie, sunlight spilling down from the transparent glass ceiling. Nourished by the light, forests grow over the wastelands, waterfalls cascade, and creatures wander. The exterior gallery of the project resembles mountains and rivers, blending with the overall atmosphere. Public areas connect naturally, and integrated elements interact to form a complete ecosystem. A large natural themed exhibition unfolds before the eyes, displaying how the brand connects human life with nature, bringing the audience an entirely new cultural experience.
In the open spatial forms, large areas of mellow white and slender black lines form a stark contrast, leading the eyes along, and winding curves breaking visual monotony. Redesigned traffic lines increase interest. Polished stone as the main material conveys authentic texture, complemented by matte black metal, soft curves dissolving the hardness. The mirrored ceiling expands perceived space, creating a surreal, magical feel that transcends time and space.
The elegant, tranquil white main tone is like a pristine canvas, creating a quiet, comfortable viewing atmosphere that focuses on enjoying the art. Minimalist lines gracefully drift across the white, outlining multiple images - they could be waterfalls and rivers, or layered mountain ridges, with landscapes blended together. The brushwork is natural, the grand way supremely simple, painting a scene of dynamic vitality and profound artistic conception from traditional Chinese landscape painting.
